Rodaí of Duneane Poem

The latest memorial commemorates the sacrifice and contribution made by the Women of Ireland to the struggle from the early 1900’s. The Roddy McCorley Society had no hesitation in granting permission for the Garden of Reflection to be located on its grounds in the woodland area fronting the Glen Road. The opening ceremony was presided over by Sinn Fein President Mr Gerry Adams on the 3rd May 2007.

Frances Black gave a brilliant rendition of the song ‘Women of Cumann Na mBán’. Kieran Doherty, nephew of Kieran Doherty TD, played Amhrán na bhFiann.. The garden is open to anyone wanting to spend a quiet time for reflection and reading the stories of each of the women commemorated.

Like the gardens, each memorial needs care and attention, whether it’s clearing leaves in winter or cleaning stonework insummer. The RoddyMcCorley Society would like to thank all the staff for their hard work all year round in maintaining each monument.
